Amy Reed Goldman is a Clinical Professor Emerita of Writing who joined NYU Shanghai’s Writing Program at the university’s 2013 launch. From 2011-2013 she spearheaded the Liberal Studies Program at NYU’s Global Academic Center in Shanghai, where she was an Adjunct Professor from its opening in 2006. She has also taught at the University of California at Davis (primarily in Comparative Literature’s Great Books) and at Fudan University, Colorado College, and the University of Memphis. She holds a PhD from the University of California at Davis and a BA from Princeton. 
 
Dr. Goldman’s research interests include comparative mythology, especially narrative traditions of Asia and the West related to the sacred; gender studies; feminist ethics; and creative writing. Her current writing encompasses creative nonfiction, memoir, and travel narratives populated by intercultural dilemmas. Some of her China-related essays can be found in Heading East: China in the Eyes of 11 China-Hands (Shanghai People’s Press, 2013). Dr. Goldman is also a professional editor and writer, serving for many years as Senior Editor of English publications both for Fudan University Press and the university’s School of Public Health.
