David Yu is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance at NYU Shanghai. He focuses on investing and financing cross border and on real assets. He teaches a variety of investing and financing related courses at NYU Shanghai and in NYU Stern/Shanghai's Masters of Quantitative Finance Program and previously in NYU Stern/HKUST's Masters of Global Finance Program. Yu is the Chairman of China Aviation Valuation Advisors, the only aviation focused valuation advisory firm in China and Asia. Prior to his full time appointment, he was previously an adjunct professor of finance at NYU for many years.
Yu is a recognized expert and thought leader in cross border finance and investing. In addition, Yu has extensive experience in direct investments and financing across industries globally. He also acts as a board member and senior advisor for funds and companies. Prof Yu is a frequently invited speaker at leasing, investment, and finance industry conferences and has been interviewed in the top industry and general publications. He is a regular opinion columnist, editor, and commentator for various media outlets including Nikkei Asia, Forbes, Airfinance Journal, Airline Economics, etc. His book "Aircraft Valuation: Airplane Investments as an Asset Class" was recently published by Palgrave MacMillan.

He is a Fellow at Johns Hopkins University's Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprise. He is a Senior ISTAT Certified Aviation Appraiser, where he is the only one in China and North Asia and one of ~20 globally. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
