Katherine Tosi is a globally experienced educator and academic leader with over two decades of work across 7–12 and higher education in the U.S., China, Thailand, Myanmar, Australia, and Switzerland. Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes at NYU Shanghai, she specializes in inclusive curriculum design, English Medium Instruction (EMI), and experiential learning. Her interdisciplinary courses—on topics ranging from sustainability to systems thinking and the history of rock and roll—reflect her commitment to relevance, engagement, and global citizenship.

Katherine’s teaching philosophy centers on creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments where diversity is valued and each learner is empowered to thrive. She believes that transformative education connects deeply to the world beyond the classroom and equips students with the skills, confidence, and critical perspective needed to navigate complexity and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

In addition to her teaching, she has led DEI initiatives, co-founded the NYUSH Sustainability Committee, mentored first-generation students, and designed school-wide EAL and SEN programs in leadership roles at Harrow International School Shanghai and Dulwich College Beijing. Her work is informed by advanced training in TESOL, educational leadership, and inclusive education.

Katherine holds an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of New South Wales, a B.A. in Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Vermont, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Inclusion and Special Needs from the University of Wolverhampton. She is also a licensed 7–12 English teacher and school administrator in the State of Vermont, USA.
