Lu Zhang is a Professor of Practice in Chemistry at NYU Shanghai. Prior to joining NYU Shanghai, she was a Teaching Assistant at New York University. She holds a PhD from New York University and a BS from Jilin University.

Professor Zhang’s research focuses on the mechanisms by which chemical carcinogens damage DNA and how the human nucleotide excision repair system processes these lesions to protect the genome. She has published her research in Nano Letters, Chemistry – A European Journal,  Journal of Molecular Biology, and Nucleic Acids Research.

Professor Zhang was the recipient of the New York University Henry M. MacCracken Graduate Fellowship.
