Marcela Godoy has been an IMA faculty member since 2015. She is an educator, designer and maker.  She holds a Master’s degree in Interaction Telecommunications from the New York University and a Professional degree in Architecture from the Technical University Federico Santa Maria. In the past, she worked as an instructor at the School of Architecture, University of Talca and she was part of the team of YesYesNo, a multidisciplinary company that specializes in interactive art installations and commercial interactive projects.

Godoy applies critical making and fabrication technologies to investigate new possibilities in architecture, open up social reflection, and to propose unique solutions to environmental issues. With a background in architecture and interaction design, her work takes a wide range of research and form such as interactive and kinetic structures, wearables, data physicalization, toys, and upcycled artifacts, among others. Additionally, she has extensive research and experience in creating interactive projects both in the art and commercial industry.
 
Her current research includes the creation of the NYU Shanghai Re-Makerspace in collaboration with Monika Lin, from the Visual Arts department. A project funded by a Green Grant from NYU’s Office of Sustainability.
