Maya Kramer

Maya Kramer is an Assistant Arts Professor of Visual Arts at NYU Shanghai. She holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from Hunter College. Prior to joining NYU Shanghai, she worked in the curatorial department of the Guggenheim Museum, for the notable private collector David Teiger, and as an arts consultant for such organizations as the Shanghai Gallery of Art and W hotels. She regularly contributes to such publications as Frieze and Cobo Social, and is represented by Capsule Gallery in Shanghai. Her work focuses on humanity’s fraught relationship to the environment through immersive, sometimes mechanical installations, and an idiosyncratic approach to materiality.
