Vivian Chiu received her MS in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles where she studied the effects of osmotic pressure on the ejection of RNA from the CCMV viral capsid.  Her postgraduate training continued at the MacDonald Research Laboratories in UCLA as a staff research assistant supporting a team studying signaling pathways involved in cardiovascular development.  Inspired by her colleagues to join the health care profession, she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California.  She has worked in community practice and as a transitional care pharmacist at the Los Angeles County Hospital.  Chiu is a dedicated educator in the healthcare setting for both patients and students, and in the classroom since joining the faculty at NYU Shanghai as Assistant Professor of Practice in Chemistry in September 2024.
