Hua Jiang is Director of University Communications for NYU Shanghai, where she oversees all public affairs, digital communications, and marketing activities. She brings to Shanghai some 40 years' experience in journalism and communication.
Jiang began her career as producer in the BBC World Service, moving on to become senior producer and finally Editor of Current Affairs. She then joined the UN in 2002 as Deputy Spokesperson for Secretary-General Kofi Annan. In her 20 years of service at the UN, she worked as Chief of the Press Service at the UN Headquarters and Director of Communications/Chief Spokesperson of UN peacekeeping and political missions in such locations as Kosovo, Austria, Sudan, South Sudan, Myanmar, and Libya.
She spent her last 6 years at the UN working as Director, News and Media Division of Global Communications, where she managed a team of more than 200 staff responsible for the whole spectrum of public information and communications across a range of platforms.
Jiang holds a Bachelor's Degree from Beijing Language and Culture University, and a M.A. from SOAS, London University.
