Dozens of NYU alumni and student parents of different ages and backgrounds, gathered early this month in US West Coast cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle separately for a sip of wine and some cozy chats, and to meet NYU Shanghai’s Chancellor Yu Lizhong.
“It is heartening to see NYU graduates working in so many industries, including entertainment in LA and IT-related outfits in San Francisco,” Yu Lizhong said. “They’d love to support NYU Shanghai in a variety of ways, such as offering internship and employment opportunities for our students.”
As part of his efforts to extend the influence of NYU Shanghai globally, Chancellor Yu Lizhong attended the three gatherings in addition to visiting Facebook, Google and other leading employers during his two-week trip to the US that started on March 2. At the events, he introduced his audiences to the dual identities of NYU Shanghai, a degree campus of NYU’s global network and an educational institution of Sino-US cooperation.
“The reception was wonderful with great food and talented alumni with diverse backgrounds. The Mozart performance was graceful and beautiful,” one attendee in San Francisco said. “It was a fantastic event in every way.”
