This week, Career Development Center (CDC) hosted Career Boot Camp, which will be followed by two Summer Internship Fairs (March 25th and April 15th). Throughout a week of workshops, students explored the realities of launching a career. Already, participating companies have posted over 350 jobs on CareerNet for students to consider.
Reflecting the university’s drive to expand employment opportunities for its students, CDC leaders joined Chancellor Yu Lizhong and Hongxia Liu, Associate Vice Chancellor for Government and Community Affairs, on their productive tour of West Coast universities and employers earlier this month. Together, they met with recruiters from technology leaders such as Facebook, Google and Microsoft, who explained that a key aspect of their active recruitment strategy is to hire young global talent because they bring innovation and a diversity of ideas to their organizations. They stressed that interested students should not wait until graduation to consider them in their career plans.
At the Career Boot Camp, workshops include Internship Fair Prep, Resume Workshop, Quick Tips and Tricks: Industry and Company Research, What is Case Interview led by Seniors Consultants from Kantar Vermeer, and Elevator Pitch Workshop led by Founder of Jing Jobs. More than 60 companies from various industries will attended the fairs. Notable employers include Brand Union, Discover Financial Services Shanghai Analytics Center, KPMG, MSH CHINA and Special Olympics East Asia.
The NYU Shanghai Career Development Center (CDC) aims to provide comprehensive career guidance to NYU Shanghai’s student body by collaborating with employers, alumni and organizations to provide a range of resources and opportunities for students to achieve personal and professional success. Depending on their track, students may choose to enter the job market upon graduation or continue in academia by pursuing an advanced degree. No matter what path they choose, the distinctively global NYU Shanghai experience will make our students uniquely marketable.
In preparation for our inaugural class's senior year, the CDC is committed to provide employers with responsive services to make the task of identifying and interviewing qualified candidates simple, and encourages students to start thinking about their career path as early as sophomore year. In the fall of 2016, CDC will launch the On-Campus Recruitment program (OCR) to provide employers with the opportunity to hold recruitment presentations and conduct interviews on campus starting in Fall 2016.
