NYU Shanghai hosted the 2024 Shanghai Frontier Symposium on Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from December 7–9, bringing together over 170 scholars, students, and industry professionals for in-depth discussions on recent developments in theoretical and computational chemistry and their applications in related fields.
This year’s symposium was sponsored by the NYU-ECNU Center for Computational Chemistry at NYU Shanghai and the Shanghai Frontiers Science Center of Molecule Intelligent Synthesis at ECNU. Center for Computational Chemistry Co-Director William Glover and ECNU Office of Science and Technology Director Yang Haibo warmly welcomed the guest speakers and participants.
Aimed at fostering advanced exchange and collaboration among domestic scholars, the two-and-a-half-day symposium featured 36 invited presentations by distinguished speakers from 20 renowned institutions on cutting-edge developments and their applications across electronic structure theory, chemical dynamics, biological systems, materials science, and the integration of machine learning in these domains.
“For participants, this is not only an occasion to showcase and discuss their work but also a platform to contribute to shaping the future of computational chemistry and its applications,” said ECNU Professor He Xiao, member of the organizing committee. “With the support from both centers, the symposium underlines a strong commitment to advancing the field through interdisciplinary and international collaboration and we hope the conference will facilitate addressing some of the most challenging scientific questions in the field.”
