As the end of the academic year approaches, students from the NYU Stern - NYU Shanghai MS programs continue to embrace opportunities for growth, learning, and professional development. From completing rigorous coursework to engaging with industry professionals and participating in vibrant social gatherings alongside program alumni, it has been a busy semester at NYU Shanghai.
Coursework
Students completed more credits of advanced coursework in the spring semester on their way to graduation. They also completed their team-based capstone projects after six months of hard work, delivering their analyses of real business cases to their corporate sponsors.
Students have the option to complete the program in either 12 months (graduating in May 2024) or 20 months (graduating in January 2025). May graduates complete Professional Responsibility and Leadership (PRL) in the Spring while January graduates take this course in the Fall of their second year. May 2024 graduates from all four MS programs took this interdisciplinary course together and participated in a variety of exercises including discussion, role-playing, reading and writing, and engaging in reflective dialogue around their choice to embark on a career in business.
Guest Speakers and Company Visits
This Spring, students connected with guest speakers who brought their industry knowledge and experience into the classroom. Guest speakers included the CRM Director at Nike China, the Head of Digital Innovation at Suntory, the Executive Creative Officer at Isobar, and more. Students also gained a better understanding of business operations and industry trends through company visits across different sectors including Shanghai Stock Exchange, Hormel Food, and Microsoft AI Co-Innovation Lab.

Career Development
In the spring semester, the Center for Career Development (CCD) continued to provide diverse career educational workshops and on-campus recruitment sessions engaging employers, alumni, and industry experts from different industries. In March CCD hosted a successful Joint Career Fair with Lujiazui Financial City. A total of 42 employers from over 10 diverse industries joined the fair and brought more than 100 internship and full-time job opportunities to campus.

Alumni Engagement
Members from the 2023-2024 Alumni Council continued to organize events that offered opportunities for alumni to connect with the larger program community, including current students and alumni from different programs and cohorts. Events included casual meet-ups off campus where alumni discussed their professional experience after graduation, as well as career sessions targeted at current students interested in working in the United States or in securities, private equity, funds, and fintech industries in China.
A highlight of the alumni activity this Spring was an inaugural event with fellow alumni from Duke-Kunshan University, in which current students and recent graduates gathered together at NYU Shanghai to network, mingle, and share stories of their studies and post-grad careers in Shanghai.

Cohort leaders also hosted meal gatherings and group activities such as karaoke, movies, Mahjong, and board games at a party venue.
