NYU Shanghai was honored to host the US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns and his delegation on Tuesday, December 10.
Chancellor Tong Shijun, Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman, and Provost Joanna Waley-Cohen welcomed Ambassador Burns and US Consul General in Shanghai Scott Walker to the University’s New Bund campus.
Ambassador Burns dropped by a class on creativity and received a warm welcome from the students, with whom he engaged in an informal conversation. “A great discussion with students from America, China and around the world at NYU Shanghai, the flagship US university in China,” he said on X.
“It was an honor to welcome Ambassador Burns back to our campus,” said Vice Chancellor Lehman. “The students were inspired to hear his reflections on the importance of creativity in the world of diplomacy."
Ambassador Burns also met with representatives from Duke Kunshan University, Wenzhou-Kean University, and The Hopkins-Nanjing Center during lunch.
