They spent the afternoon relaxing in the sun, playing frisbee, and catching up with friends. Seniors sat through their last Global Perspectives on Society (GPS) lecture on March 25. Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman took them back to Monday mornings during freshman year, when they spent hours together discussing everything from Xunzi to Kant. On this last meeting, the class discussed Being Mortal by Atul Gawande and reflected on what it means to live “a life of worth and purpose,” and “authoring” one’s life by leading rather than following. During Senior Week from March 25 -29, the Class of 2019 re-lived their first-year Orientation, had a much needed De-Stress Day, a Violet Spirit Day (wear purple, get a purple taro-flavored ice cream!) and a Game Night that included everything from Mahjong and Uno to Nintendo Switch and games of Mafia. In small groups, they were tasked with objectives like eating late night foods and photographing landmarks like Waibaidu Bridge. April 20 was Senior Disney Day! True to NYU Shanghai tradition, all seniors grabbed a group snap in front of the iconic Shanghai Disney castle. Tang Zihan and Qian Xingying share a dance at NYU Shanghai’s Spring Formal at The Grand Kempinski Hotel. Based on NYU’s traditional Violet Ball, the theme of this year’s dance on May 3rd was “New York Nights.” May 4 -- Seniors brunched, enjoyed the view, and reminisced about the last four years at Kathleen’s Bistro on the Bund.
