Ally Week

Each year, the entire NYU Global Network launches a week of events that raise awareness of the individual and collective injustices that confront many in our society. Through practicing allyship and solidarity, we empower one another in creating a more inclusive community.

At NYU Shanghai, Ally Week arrives every fall. The Ally Week Program changes each year, covering topics that are relevant to the current happenings in both the global and local contexts. Through conversation, workshop, performance, arts & film, etc., participants deepen their understanding of intersectional identities and social issues. They are also challenged to critically reflect upon the interlocking systems of power that shape our experiences.

Each year, Ally Week recruits ambassadors from the LEAD program members. The Ally Week Ambassadors take an active role in promoting and executing the Ally Week activities. Diversity Initiatives also engages student leaders who have demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice to lead their own Ally Week events. .
