Meet the Team

Welcome to the Academic Resource Center Team! We are a dedicated group committed to fostering student success through various academic support services. Our team is made up of three full-time staff members, 18 Global Writing & Speaking Fellows, and a group of student workers, including 48 Course-specific Learning Assistants, 5 Writing & Speaking Learning Assistants, and 8 Information Assistants. We provide a range of academic services designed to support students in their transition to college and their ongoing academic journey. Whether you need assistance with English language skills development, study skills coaching, course-specific tutoring, or academic accommodations, our team is here to equip you with the skills and guidance you need to thrive in your studies at NYU Shanghai and beyond.

Writing & Speaking Fellows

Writing & Speaking Fellows

NYU Shanghai Global Writing & Speaking Fellows provide academic support and enrichment to NYU Shanghai undergraduate students, including one-on-one consultations (on writing, speaking, listening, reading, and academic skills), academic workshops, new student orientation support, student engagement activity facilitation, assessment of prospective students, exam proctoring, etc. They work closely with faculty and collaborate with different university departments to spearhead projects and initiatives that enrich the student academic experience and university community at large.

Course-Specific Learning Assistants

ARC Learning Assistants (LA) are NYU Shanghai student tutors who provide course-specific academic support for NYU Shanghai students in and out of the classroom. LAs work closely with faculty and ARC professionals to support student success and promote independent and active learning. LAs provide Individual and small-group tutoring in a variety of STEM, Business, Economics, IMA, and Chinese Language courses

Writing and Speaking Learning Assistants

Writing & Speaking Learning Assistants (WSLAs) work in the NYU Shanghai Academic Resource Center and provide writing, speaking, listening and reading support to NYU Shanghai students in one-on-one consultations. WSLAs work closely with Global Writing and Speaking Fellows to support student success and promote independent and active learning.

Information Assistants

Information Assistants

Information Assistants (IAs) attend the front desk, welcoming students to the Academic Resource Center (ARC) and Advising and directing students to appropriate academic resources. They also serve as the liaison between the ARC and the undergraduate student body to share feedback with the ARC and help the ARC promote and improve services.
